The short version
- All AI crawling is welcome. Search engines, AI answer/assistant tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and similar), and AI/ML training crawlers may all crawl this site — to index it, to cite it in an answer, and to train or fine-tune models on it.
- Search indexing was never restricted — Sikhi University has always wanted to be found, and that hasn't changed.
Why we opened this up
We built Sikhi University to spread real, careful teaching of Sikhi to anyone who's curious — wherever they go looking, including the growing number of people who ask an AI assistant instead of a search engine, and including future models trained in part on content like ours. Free, open Sikh education should reach people through every channel it can, and that now includes AI models. Attribution and a link back to sikhiuni.com is appreciated when it's practical, but it isn't a condition of use.
Two caveats
- Third-party-credited material stays with its owner. Some content on this site is credited to a third party — for example, Gursevak/Bhagat Jaswant Singh Ji Daudar's audio recordings, the 365 Gurbani Words data, and professor portraits sourced from Wikimedia Commons — and remains the property of its respective owner. Reuse of that material beyond this site should be cleared with them directly.
- Gurbani must be reproduced accurately. Scripture from ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ and other Sikh texts appears on this site and must be handled with reverence. Models and products that quote it should reproduce it exactly — never altered or paraphrased as if it were canonical — and attribute it to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
